Grande Assurdo is Adelaide Cioni’s first solo presentation in an Italian public institution and showcases the latest developments in her practice. Working primarily with fabrics and textiles, she creates immersive environments that explore the relationship between form, colour and space. Conceived specfically for the ground floor of the palazzo, Grande Assurdo unfolds through a sequence of environments populated by geometric, organic and archetypal forms. Suspended elements, imagined landscapes, non-human presences and tactile surfaces invite visitors into a sensory experience that transforms the perception of space. Developed in close dialogue with Spoleto, where Cioni lives and works, the project reflects the city’s artistic tradition, including the legacy of Sol LeWitt, an important reference for the artist. It also involves collaborations with the Sansi Leonard Volta Art High School, local artisans and craftspeople, and the technical sponsorship of Fabiana Filippi.
