This year Dave Muller has embarked on the mammoth task of drawing the spines of his entire record collection. The approach is pleased to present the beginnings of the project along with other music related drawings and wall paintings.

In Dave Muller’s words; “I own about thirty-five hundred LP’s. This collection is a changing organic compendium of my desire as it reflects on musical culture. I have depicted my records in the order that they appear at one moment in the collections existence, not omitting embarrassing selections. The drawings have a ready-made composition both with regard to text and colours. This painstaking work spawns all kinds of other more spontaneous drawings reflecting on my and other peoples relationships to the cultural stew”.

Bring one of your favourite records to exchange for a small drawing by the artist. The traded records will be available for casual listening over the course of the show.

Dave Muller was born in San Francisco in 1964. He lives and works in Los Angeles.
